Ring Donation Program:

To answer your questions yes residents needed Wi-Fi to be eligible to receive a Ring Doorbell. Local law enforcement was not involved in any of the process or program. Aside from the immediate benefits that Ring provides, it also allowed the community to have peace of mind. We are in a disenfranchised and often overlooked community so their reaction to receiving a free Ring Doorbell was a benefit in itself.

As for us here at SBCC, we have provided the community with resources and linkages for over 4 decades and this is another example of our commitment to serving resident partners rather than clients.

I hope this was helpful. If you want to jump on a call we can absolutely do so and if you have any questions for Ring I can connect you with Melissa the PR rep.

Hello Michael,

I greatly appreciate you having taken the time to attend our last CWNA meeting. I created a short video that goes over the layout of the neighborhood, and the locations where we are in the greatest danger of shootings.

I was wondering if you had time to discuss the best options for this community?

I am thinking it would be best for rental property owners and business owners to have the Nest Cams at certain locations, and for there to be battery operated ring doorbells installed through the neighborhood (especially on Williamsburg Drive).

Let me know your thoughts.

Best Regards,

Runs Community Engagement Program - Offers 10 nonprofits a year 500-1000 devices a year. Just starting the 2003 process.

Described the Request for Assistance Program - how police departments work with Ring holders, geolocate requests to Ring owners and they participate voluntarily or not.

They have not yet investigated what happens when you "flood the zone" with Ring devices, and haven't measured qualitatively how this changes the community.

Hi Neeraj,

It would great to chat on Monday afternoon or Tuesday midday.

I'm working in the Vice Mayor's office in San Jose and focused on the Innovation Zone that's been established on the city's west side. We looking for innovative pilot projects that can improve that quality of life for residents that can eventually be rolled out to the rest of the city. I know that Ring is already engaged with SJPD and I was wondering if there are more creative applications we might explore.

Thanks.

Michael

P.S. Thanks Alex and Melissa for making that connection!
